Help me get dance and voice lessons


In my next post you’ll get more details, BUT my goal is to take dance and voice lessons in 2018! For those who don’t know, I’m a stage manager but I use to perform some several years ago. As part of my 30 things to do before 30, I want to take lessons again. Obviously, that costs money! I’m currently funemployed, and looking for jobs, but my dance classes start in a few weeks! If you’d like to send me money, send away to my venmo. I would greatly appreciate it….until I can get a damn job. Anyone hiring? Let me know! I’m a single, funemployed mom. I do a little bit of everything. I am grateful for all the help.

Month Reveal

As you know, I have been doing my diet program. I did it for a month and now I am in my transition phase with only 4 pounds left til my goal. I think you guys deserve a preliminary reveal of my progress.



I only have 4 more pounds that I want to lose before I start working out. I’m so anxious to get into the gym! I can’t wait. I know we just had a crazy blizzard, but the time for showing skin is right around the corner.

Personal (weight loss) Goals:

  • Bikini/Tankini
  • Clothes other than comfy mommy pants
  • Commit to working out 2-3 times/week
  • Healthy eating throughout the week
  • Be more confident in self
  • Appreciate self and appearance

One week

I started my transformation into a better, healthier lifestyle last week, and let me tell you, it hasn’t been easy AT ALL! No carbs, no sugar, no oils, no fun! I miss rice. I really miss pizza. However, I know that I really need to lose this weight, and adopt healthier eating habits. 

Although it’s only been a week, I’ve already figured out a few things that will or won’t work for me:

  • I tried eating flounder a few times. I’m not really sure why people even like that fish. Wow, is it boring, or what? I put the best seasoning on there and it did nothing. Needless to say, I have eliminated that from my diet. 
  • Grass fed beef is delicious! It was weird at first because it felt like I could taste the smell or smell the taste! My senses were pleasantly confused. It also seemed to fill me up the most. 
  • Another food that was surprisingly filling was my chicken. I cooked it in chicken broth and seasoned it while it boiled. I’m not very fond of chicken and often overcook it because I don’t like a smooth texture. By cooking it in the broth, it kept its moisture but got rid of that texture I don’t like. So delicious!
  • With regards to vegetables, I need more of a selection. I only had broccoli this week…until today. I was able to find riced cauliflower, which I love. I also got some butternut squash. I need to look up ways to cook that, but I’m sure I’ll love it. 

The program I’m doing suggests that you make 14 meals (2 weeks worth of lunch and dinner), so that’s what I did. This week’s meats included spicy flounder, curry shrimp, grass fed beef burgers, and chicken. For vegetables I did broccoli and cauliflower rice. For my next round of cooking, I’ll do scallops, ground turkey, and chicken cooked a different way…probably curried. I’m thinking maybe I’ll also try some vegetables I haven’t liked in the past, like asparagus and brussel sprouts. We’ll see!

Prep Week

I made the decision to stop making excuses, and do what was best for my health. This week I am starting a new “diet” program. I use the word “diet” in quotations because while the program does focus on eating well and portion control over exercise, it is meant to be more of a guide towards a lifestyle change rather than a one time diet. And let’s be honest, when it comes to health, most of us could really use a change!

Sunday, I started the prep week. During prep week I have to focus on things like eliminating artificial sweeteners from my diet, and drinking half my body weight in water. I’ll be honest, I weigh 165 lbs and barely drink 16 oz on a normal day. I am absolutely one of those people who could use an IV. Otherwise, I’d probably be severely dehydrated on another diet or workout regimen. 

During this prep week, I also get to add high fats into my life. (I wish this meant ‘find the nearest Checkers and pig out on their fries,’ but nope.) My favorite good fat foods are salmon and avocado. I have a secret love affair with guacamole. Just thinking about it is getting my stomach excited. It also helps that I recently learned how to make it on my own. Didn’t realize it was so easy! My go to meal will definitely be salmon and guac!

I am beyond ecstatic to make this change….but I really want a large, extra cold Coca-Cola. *drops mic*
